THE CREATION
Eau d'Hermès is the first fragrance from the House of Hermès. Conceived in 1951 by perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, it evokes “the interior of a Hermès bag where the aroma of a perfume floats”.
OLFACTORY NOTES
A citrusy, spicy fragrance, Eau d'Hermès is an eau de toilette where the brightness of lemon petitgrain and the fiery energy of cardamom combine with the warmth of cinnamon.
THE OBJECT
Inspired by the lanterns of old-fashioned carriages, the bottle is topped with a black cap, echoing the bombshell of horsemen. The label on the back is illustrated with a drawing by Philippe Dumas, a sign that it belongs to the Parfums-Fondateurs collection.
THE PARFUMS-FONDATEURS COLLECTION
The Parfums-Fondateurs collection draws its inspiration from the company's heritage. Each creation concentrates the Hermès imagination in a name, a fragrance and a color. Over the years, Hermès has written the pages of a daring perfumery, born of encounters with exceptional perfumers.
Created in 1951 by Edmond Roudnitska around a spicy floral citrus theme, Eau d'Hermès is the house's first fragrance. It draws its inspiration from the evocation of a wonderful, sensitive scent: “The inside of a Hermès bag, where the aroma of a perfume floated... A note of fine pea leather coated with fresh citrus fragrances and spiced up with spices”, commented the composer at the time. A historical novel inspired by the tradition and culture of the house, for men and women alike. Powerful, sensual writing.
